Unmissable place Stanislas
Place Stanislas, Favorite monument of the French 2021.
The magnificent Place Stanislas, listed as World Heritage by UNESCO in 1983, wanted by Stanislas Leszczynski to link the old town and the new town, was built by Emmanuel Heré. Completed in 1755, it then bears the name of Place Royale in homage to Louis XV - son-in-law of Stanislas.
We now understand why the fleurs-de-lis (emblems of French royalty) bloom on the Place, while Lorraine was still independent.
The gates, gilded with gold leaf, are by Jean Lamour. The square will take its current name in 1831.
For its 250th anniversary, in 2005, major renovations restored the place to its original configuration. It then becomes pedestrian.
Place Stanislas has become an essential place for both Nancy residents and visitors who will admire its harmonious proportions day and night, while having a coffee or a meal on one of the terraces.
In summer, the "Rendez-Vous" offers a daily Sounds and Lights show at nightfall, in winter, you will see a reminder of the legend of Saint Nicolas.

- the Cordeliers church which houses the burials of the Lorraine ducal family
-the Government Palace, built by Emmanuel Héré in 1751, housed the residence of the representative of France in Lorraine (the Intendant of Lorraine). He has just joined the museum complex of the Musée Lorrain.
The Georges de la Tour (Femme à la Puce) and the Gueux de Jacques Callot are unmissable!

Nursery
21 hectares of garden in the heart of Nancy, just next to Place Stanislas. The old royal nursery was to supply the trees for the Lorraine roads. It became a public park in 1835. Rose garden, merry-go-rounds, mini-golf, playground, Guignol, farm, gymnasium, stadium, auditorium… There are many activities for young and old alike!
The Nancy School Museum
The Musée de l'Ecole de Nancy (or Provincial Alliance of Art Industries) is housed in the home of Eugène Corbin, a great patron and unconditional lover of the modern style of the time. The Musée de l'Ecole de Nancy presents works by Emile Gallé, Eugène Vallin, Victor Prouvé, Louis Majorelle in situ: dining room, living room, bedroom, bathroom ...

the Villa Majorelle
The first entirely Art Nouveau house in Nancy, it bears witness to a perfect collaboration between Parisian and Nancy artists. Thus, alongside Henri Sauvage, we find the names of Jacques Gruber for the stained-glass windows, Alexandre Bigot for the sandstones, Francis Jourdain and Henri Royer for the paintings, not to mention Louis Majorelle himself for the ironwork, woodwork and furniture or even Lucien Weissenburger for the execution and monitoring of the site.
Open to the public since 1997, the Villa Majorelle still bears witness, both in its exterior architecture and in its interior decoration, to the notion of the unity of art advocated by the artists who are members of the School of Nancy.
It is the subject of a total renovation program that the world envies us.

Nancy aquarium museum
Located in an Art Deco building, a stone's throw from Place Stanislas, the museum-aquarium brings together aquariums and zoological gallery of stuffed animals. It invites you to discover biodiversity through a renovated and resolutely modern course.
Temporary exhibitions, conferences, events ... Its offer is very rich and will delight young and old!

The botanical garden
The botanical garden is a link between the botanical gardens of Grand Nancy and the University of Lorraine, with the Godron garden, rue Sainte-Catherine in Nancy and the Haut Chitelet altitude garden in the Vosges. This set received the Remarkable Garden label in 2004.
Its mission is to conserve endangered species, to take an inventory of regional and global flora and to educate its visitors: 12,000 species, 35 hectares, 2,500 m2 of tropical greenhouses.
